e were delighted to attend another excellent First Friday networking event, this time hosted by Maeving Limited at their Coventry headquarters.
Founded five years ago as the UK’s first electric motorcycle manufacturer, Maeving has been built on the rich heritage of British motorcycling. Designing and manufacturing its electric motorcycles in Coventry, the historic heart of the industry, the business combines traditional British engineering values with the latest electrical innovation.
Maeving’s strength lies not only in its products but in its people. With over 100 years of combined experience across its product team, members have played key roles in the design and engineering of some of the most respected motorcycles on the road today. That depth of expertise has helped Maeving grow rapidly into a multi‑award‑winning company, now employing more than 70 people and selling around 1,600 electric motorcycles each year. Most recently, the business has secured £11 million of investment to support its ambitious expansion and growth plans.
The company is redefining the future of urban travel by addressing many of the challenges faced by city commuters. Its lightweight motorcycle frames enable easier navigation through congested streets, while zero greenhouse gas emissions contribute to cleaner air in urban environments. Practical innovation is at the heart of the design, with removable batteries that can be charged from any standard socket, making electric ownership far more accessible.
Maeving is also breaking new ground commercially. As an industry first, the business operates a direct‑to‑consumer model, selling directly to customers rather than through traditional dealerships. With doorstep delivery and servicing included, this approach removes the inconvenience of showroom visits and trips to the garage, offering a modern buying and ownership experience that reflects changing consumer expectations.
The event itself was hosted by Maeving’s Co‑Founder, Seb Inglis‑Jones, who shared the company’s journey, vision and future ambitions. Following the talk, attendees were invited on a guided tour, offering an insightful behind‑the‑scenes look at how these electric motorcycles are designed and brought to life in Coventry.
Many thanks to Maeving for the invitation and for a fascinating and well‑hosted event. We are very much looking forward to the next First Friday networking opportunity.
