Audit Senior

Responsible for leading the audit process for SMEs from planning through to completion for manager review, including:

  • Leading the client through the audit process and being key point of contact
  • Preparing audit files and drafting financial statements
  • Managing trainees and assisting with development
  • Identifying any added value services

The successful candidate will be someone with a track record of working in audit at an accountancy practice who enjoys working as a team to provide excellent service to clients. A full driving licence and ability to attend client premises is a pre-requisite for the role, although at present our work is completed remotely.

Full Time Personal Tax Manager

Working in Public Practice providing all round personal tax services including advisory and compliance.

Job Role:

Applies knowledge of tax compliance and tax accounting principles to oversee and prepare self-assessment tax returns, including those for individuals, partnerships, trusts and estates. Applies knowledge of accounts compliance, accounting systems and accounting principles to prepare accounts for unincorporated traders and landlords. Offers personal tax planning advice to clients and team members.

Job Duties:

  • Offering personal tax advice to both clients and internal team members.
  • Prepares client income tax returns for submission to HMRC.
  • Maintains and updates working knowledge of tax laws and regulations, including new filing practices, deadlines, and any client-specific information.
  • Responsible for a portfolio of personal tax clients, answering technical queries and considering tax planning matters.
  • Corresponds with other departments, including marketing and production, to understand business practices and new projects, and communicates the tax implications of legislation changes to clients and team members.
  • Develops strong relationships with clients, including understanding their business practices and specific tax information needs.
  • Business development and building the Burgis & Bullock brand in the local marketplace.

Experience:

  • At least 5 years’ experience working in public practice
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience compiling and submitting personal tax returns
  • Ideally ATT, CTA or qualified by experience
  • Strong personal tax advisory skills including knowledge of inheritance tax, capital gains tax and tax residency matters.
  • Working knowledge of HMRC systems
  • Up to date CPE for accounting and tax regulations
  • Good communication skills
  • IT literate

Full Time Personal Tax Senior/Manager

Working in Public Practice in a personal tax focussed role including preparing unincorporated accounts and personal tax returns.

Job Role:

Applies knowledge of tax compliance and tax accounting principles to oversee and prepare all personal tax compliance returns. Applies knowledge of accounts compliance, accounting systems and accounting principles to prepare statutory accounts for unincorporated businesses. Offers basic tax advice to clients and team members.

Job Duties:

  • Prepares client annual accounts and financial statements for unincorporated businesses including sole traders, partnerships and landlords
  • Prepares client income tax returns for submission to HMRC
  • Responsible for a portfolio of personal tax clients, answering technical queries and considering planning matters
  • Maintains and updates working knowledge of tax laws and regulations, including new filing practices, deadlines, and any client-specific information
  • Develops strong relationships with clients, including understanding their business practices and specific tax information needs
  • Assists with preparing annual financial records, including meeting deadlines and ensuring all financial practices and records comply with accepted accounting standards

Experience:

  • At least 3 years’ experience working in public practice
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience compiling and submitting personal tax returns
  • Ideally AAT, ATT or qualified by experience
  • Working knowledge of HMRC systems
  • Up to date CPE for accounting and tax regulations
  • Good communication skills
  • IT literate
