Ellen Main-Jeffrey

Ellen has specialised in VAT for over 35 years advising all kinds of business of all shapes and sizes.

Her career started with HM Revenue & Customs, now HMRC where she spent 10 years as a VAT Inspector in London and the Midlands before going into practice. Ellen then spent just over 20 years in the Big 4 in the Midlands and London gaining the broadest of experience working with clients in education, manufacturing, financial services, the NHS, suppliers to the NHS and in the private health and care sectors, automotive and retail. More recently Ellen spent 4 years with a mid-tier firm based in the City of London where she worked extensively with charities and is now recognised as a Charity VAT specialist.

Ellen regularly presents and writes articles on Charity VAT, speaking at conferences organised by the Charity Finance Group, the ACCA and in-house and she is the author of the Bloomsbury VAT Digest on Charites which is a practical commentary on day to day VAT issues affecting charities.

Ellen is a Chartered Tax Adviser and a member of the VAT Practitioners Group.

On the home front Ellen is married with two daughters and in her free time she likes to escape to their holiday home in France.
