Since its launch, the Business Mastermind Group has achieved some fantastic success stories.
The group has helped members, inspired attendees to take their businesses to the next level, and to implement processes they had previously not considered.
Allison Mair, Associate Director at Safety For Design, attended her first taster session in April and has shared how the Burgis & Bullock Business Mastermind Group has helped her.
The business: Safety For Design is a health and safety consultancy working within the construction industry. Based in Shropshire, the company was formed in 2014 and over the past 5 years has seen its workforce treble in size.
Allison joined Safety For Design four years ago and has attended three Mastermind Group meetings since the taster session before Easter.
Why did you join the Business Mastermind Group?
Allison: “Our Managing Director was first invited along to the group and at the time we were looking at new ideas to move the business forward.
“We thought the Business Mastermind Group would be something I would enjoy, and would potentially benefit the business, but didn’t necessarily think we would still be attending nearly six months later!”
What were your first impressions from the group?
“I was immediately impressed by the level of detail provided in the taster sessions by the speakers and particularly hearing stats presented by Sean Farnell of Burgis & Bullock.
“David Mack is a superb facilitator, focusing very much on HR and wellbeing, Sean with the financials and Steve Darnell with the pure business sense. As a trio they bring it all to the table, I don’t believe a single person would be able to offer the whole package in quite the same way.
“I could tell from the off that our business was going to benefit from the expertise on offer.”
How has the group affected you and your business?
“Personally, the group has given me the confidence to speak my mind and drive change myself.
“Since joining the Mastermind Business Group, we have put together a business strategy for the future of Safety For Design, which is something that we hadn’t had written down before. I was able to run the strategy past the group leaders, who provided guidance and reassurance.
“During every session we are developing ideas. Discovering that other members are going through similar challenges to us has led to informative discussions, allowing opportunities to work together to find solutions.”
What surprised you about the group?
“It isn’t just a group of old men in suits! There is a dynamic, thought-provoking, set of personalities and characters in the room. There are a wide range of businesses from varying industries in the room, many experiencing similar challenges.
“The group is a great opportunity to get things off your chest that you can’t always voice with your colleagues, stopping you from sitting on something and worrying and instead finding a solution and helping you get through it.”
“The Mastermind Group have helped me realise my own potential and reaffirmed to me that you often have the answers yourself but need the confidence and reassurance to ‘grasp the nettle’.”
The Business Mastermind Group was launched in November 2017 by accountancy firm Burgis & Bullock, bringing together professionals business owners and leaders from a wide range of sectors for presentations, and discussions and clear action planning on how they can improve their business as well as making contacts that would be mutually beneficial.
The next Business Mastermind Group Workshop will be held at Burgis & Bullock’s Waterloo Place office in Leamington on October 24th from 1pm and is free to attend.
