Business owners will be able to learn vital steps to take when defending against cyber security risks at a workshop set up by one of Midlands’ leading accountancy firms.
Burgis & Bullock are looking to help business owners protect against cyber security and GDPR vulnerabilities, after worrying research revealed major weaknesses.
The Midlands-based company, after surveying a range of clients of all sizes, discovered they all displayed serious cyber security vulnerabilities.
The Cyber Security Workshop – organised as part of Burgis & Bullock’s Business Mastermind Group – will feature talks from a panel of industry experts on how to prevent cyber-attacks and what to do when valuable business information is stolen.
Topics such as how to identify and manage data risks and how to keep personal information safe will all be discussed by guest speakers including high-level cyber security and information professionals.
Sean Farnell, a partner at Burgis & Bullock said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for business owners to pick up some invaluable tips in safeguarding against cyber threats and find out the steps that need to be taken should their business fall victim to a cyber-attack.
“It will also look at vulnerabilities around GDPR. While it has been a year since the legislation came into force, compliance is still a fine line and it is important for business to be aware of the technicalities that can easily cause some businesses to slip up.
“The workshops will be hosted by a range of special guests who are experts in the field of cyber security and data protection.
“Our guest speakers will be providing simple, practical steps to reduce your risk of becoming a victim of a cyber attack.
“It is important to remember that prevention is better than the cure, so hopefully this workshop will provide business owners with all the tools they need to protect against one of the most potent threats to modern business.”
The Burgis & Bullock Cyber Security Workshop will take place Friday, September 27 at Chesford Grange Hotel, Kenilworth, starting at 8.30am and running until 12.30pm.
