BLOG: Bringing the curtain down on a unique year for business

By Wende Hubbard, Managing Partner

There has never been a more challenging and transformative year for business than 2020 – and back in January we couldn’t have anticipated the challenges that the year ahead would be bring.

But out of the challenging circumstances, the business community now feels closer than ever and, across the company, we have continued to strengthen relationships with clients in the face of adversity.

We therefore would like to thank all of our clients for working in partnership with us over the last 12 months.

This is the toughest time businesses have faced for decades and we hope that our advice and guidance has helped to provide some degree of peace of mind, and helped them charter these very choppy waters.

Our team has been working around the clock to ensure our clients are up-to-date on all of the support that is available to them through Government – support which was changing on almost a daily basis back in March and April!

We are always looking for opportunities to provide support to businesses and this year we have expanded our free offering, ranging from forecasting and planning, to access to business master classes, playing our part in supporting the economic recovery of the region.

The firm has been proud to also deliver the Peer Networks programme for BEIS in recent weeks and will continue to deliver this on behalf of the CWLEP Growth Hub in 2021.

But despite the circumstances, it has been incredible to see businesses rise to the challenges of the crisis, adapt and still be able to prosper.

That has been no different with our clients, with companies like Table Art and Temperance in Leamington, and PTI Worldwide in Warwick all diversifying and changing practice to thrive in the face of Covid-19.

At Burgis & Bullock, while we have been predominantly working from our homes, our teams in many ways now feel closer than ever before – the power of technology is quite incredible.

Recently we came away from the CW First awards with the prize of Best Use of Technology, which is testament to how our staff have introduced new technology into their work this year.

Our growth has continued and we’ve maintained our commitment to supporting the development of the next generation.

We’ve continued to support our apprentices with their development and have more recently welcomed with new faces joining us at our Nuneaton office.

We know that 2021 will be tough for businesses but, as in 2020, we will be there to support and on hand with any advice that may be needed.

We look forward to working with you all next year and wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
